The budget session of the Arunachal Pradesh assembly will commence on Friday, heralding important developments for the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also holds the Finance and Planning portfolio, will present the annual financial statement for the 2024-25 fiscal on July 24 during the eight-day session, Assembly Secretary Kago Habung confirmed. This marks the first budget of the Pema Khandu government since its third consecutive election victory.
The session will open with a motion of thanks to the governor's address. Key legislative items include the Arunachal Pradesh Amending Bill, 2024, the Public Examination (Measures to Prevent Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024, and the Jhum Land Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Speaker Tesam Pongte chaired a Business Advisory Committee meeting to plan the session’s agenda, with representatives from various political parties attending. The BJP, with 46 seats, commands substantial support in the 60-member House.
