In a significant development, Pune police on Thursday apprehended Manorama Khedkar, the mother of controversial IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, in connection with a land dispute case. Allegedly, she was threatening individuals with a firearm, according to police officials.
Manorama was arrested early morning from a lodge in Mahad, Raigad district, and subsequently brought to Paud police station in Pune. Authorities had been searching for her and her husband, Dilip Khedkar, after a video showed her wielding a gun during an altercation over land in Pune's Mulshi tehsil.
The police have charged the Khedkars and five others under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and Arms Act. Meanwhile, Puja Khedkar is under scrutiny for her UPSC candidature and conduct at the Pune collector's office, and her father faces a separate investigation into alleged disproportionate assets.
