Kejriwal Seeks Extra Virtual Lawyer Meetings Amid Legal Battles

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is seeking additional virtual meetings with his lawyers as he faces multiple legal cases, including the notorious Delhi excise scam. Both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Tihar jail authorities are opposing his plea, asserting that the law must be applied equally to all prisoners.

Kejriwal's counsel emphasized the need for extra consultations to ensure a fair trial, given that the AAP leader is contending with approximately 35 cases nationwide. However, the Tihar jail authorities argued that many inmates with even more cases manage with the standard two meetings per week and questioned the necessity for special treatment.

The ED accused Kejriwal of misusing these legal meetings to communicate instructions to his ministers, further complicating his request. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna of the Delhi High Court has reserved the order, which will be finalized in chambers.
