The Pakistan government has intensified its social media crackdown, restricting access to Facebook and Instagram after already blocking X for over six months. This measure, initiated on Wednesday, has left users across various ISPs struggling to access these platforms.
While some users reported issues with other Meta-owned apps, there has been no official statement from the government. The ban coincides with political conflicts involving Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the military establishment.
The federal government's action follows a request from Punjab's Chief Minister to control sectarian violence. Telecom company Nayatel confirmed the disruptions, and NetBlocks reported restrictions across multiple providers.
