A local court on Thursday sentenced nine individuals to life imprisonment for the 38-year-old murder case of an SHO.
The case involves the killing of Sureri police station SHO Babban Singh in December 1985, according to government counsel Satish Chandra Pandey. District judge Vani Ranjan Agarwal presided over the conviction and sentencing.
Pandey stated that SHO Babban Singh was attacked by villagers while addressing a land encroachment issue on December 18, 1985, and later succumbed to his injuries. An FIR was filed against 60 people, with charges laid against 26. Nine of the accused died during the hearings, and eight were acquitted by the court.
