A Dalit woman has come forward with allegations of torture by police officers at the Shadnagar police station, spurring a departmental inquiry.
According to the woman, she was summoned to the station over allegations of gold theft and subsequently assaulted in the presence of her minor son. Her husband, she claims, was beaten before being released.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty confirmed that the Detective Inspector of Shadnagar has been attached to the commissionerate headquarters, pending an inquiry. The ACP of Shadnagar is overseeing the investigation, with further action to follow based on the inquiry report.
