Paris to Offer Swimming in the Seine by Eiffel Tower Despite Bacteria Concerns

Parisians and tourists can look forward to swimming in the River Seine by the Eiffel Tower next year, according to Paris City Hall. This plan comes despite concerns over high bacteria levels that caused delays in Olympic triathlon events this summer.

France invested 1.4 billion euros to clean the river, and holding swimming events aims to showcase its transformation to a global audience. However, torrential rains had spiked bacteria levels, causing the cancellation of training sessions and delaying the men's race.

While some residents and tourists remain skeptical, Paris authorities are confident in their safety measures, conducting rigorous water tests and implementing significant sanitation improvements. Mayor Anne Hidalgo's administration stands by their plans, expecting high demand for the new swimming facilities.
