The Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken action against a retired Nashik Municipal Corporation officer for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income. The involved official, identified as former NMC chief fire officer Anil Mahajan, allegedly amassed around Rs 1.31 crore during his tenure from 1986 to May 2018.
The ACB official revealed that Mahajan's assets were noted to be 42 percent higher than his known sources of income. This has led to the filing of a case against both Mahajan and his wife under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Mumbai Naka police station.
The case comes as part of ongoing efforts by the ACB to tackle corruption within government bodies, highlighting the agency's vigilance against illicit financial activities.
