In a significant development, Delhi Police has identified eleven gangs allegedly responsible for a wave of criminal activities including extortion, threats, and violent crimes within the National Capital Region (NCR) in recent months, according to officials.
During an interstate meeting at the Delhi Police headquarters on Wednesday, Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora raised concerns over the escalating menace posed by these gangs. Senior officers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan were in attendance.
Commissioner Arora directed officers to use the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and other stringent laws where applicable to curb the gang activities. He also stressed the importance of monitoring minors involved with these criminals and the need to track their social media presence.
