A bomb disposal squad and an Indian Air Force team were enlisted on Friday following the discovery of 12-15 bomb shells, some potentially live, at a scrap dealer's shop in Betul, Madhya Pradesh. The find occurred during routine police searches ahead of Independence Day, according to officials.
Additional Superintendent of Police Kamala Joshi confirmed that some shells appeared to be live. As a safety precaution, the scrap shop and nearby houses were evacuated. The bomb disposal squad from Narmadapuram and an IAF team from Amla Station in Betul were summoned to the site.
Scrap dealer Naeem Qureshi stated the shells were sold to him by two individuals claiming they contained iron pieces. Qureshi's son Aquib has been detained for further investigation. Experts are analyzing the shells to determine safe disposal methods.
