Indian-American Congressman Shri Thanedar has called on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to address the 'coordinated attacks' on Hindus in Bangladesh. Thanedar requested the US government to provide temporary protected status to the 'persecuted' minority community members.
Reports from Hindu organizations claim there have been 205 incidents of violence in 52 districts since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. In a letter to Blinken, Thanedar highlighted that many in the international community share his concern over the atrocities committed against Hindus.
With Nobel laureate Muhmmad Yunus now serving as interim Prime Minister, Thanedar urged the Biden administration to support Yunus's efforts to end violence and grant protection to minorities. The Congressman stressed the urgency of US intervention, noting the historical pattern of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh.
