London's High Court has ruled that the approval for a new BP-backed gas-fired power station in Teesside was lawful. The decision comes as a blow to climate campaigner Andrew Boswell, who had legally challenged the project.

The power station, located in northeast England, is part of a joint venture involving BP and Equinor. The project includes advanced carbon capture and storage technology aimed at reducing emissions.

Judge Nathalie Lieven dismissed Boswell's case in a written ruling delivered on Wednesday, upholding the legality of the government's decision to approve the contentious project.
