The Patna High Court on Wednesday overturned the convictions of former Bihar MLA Anant Kumar Singh in two cases, each previously resulting in 10-year sentences.

Justice Chandra Shekhar Jha, in separate orders, allowed Singh’s appeals challenging the MP/MLA court decisions from June and July of the previous year. The court found insufficient evidence to directly link Singh to the arms and ammunition discovered at his properties.

Singh, a former gangster turned politician, was disqualified following his initial conviction in June 2022 after firearms were recovered from his residence. The rulings potentially pave the way for Singh to walk out of jail.
