Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar stated that the government will investigate complaints about those who pay Goods and Services Tax (GST) and income tax but still avail benefits under the 'guarantee schemes' launched by the Congress government.
Shivakumar firmly declared there would be no changes to these schemes. He affirmed, “As the Congress state president, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said there is no question of altering or scrapping the guarantee schemes for any reason.”
Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi noted that these schemes should benefit only the economically weaker sections and not the rich. Shivakumar mentioned that the government allocated Rs 52,000 crore for the guarantees in 2024-25 and dismissed allegations about a decrease in funds for development works as opposition tactics.
