Hundreds of BJP supporters, primarily women, gathered in Kolkata on Wednesday to protest against the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor inside a state-run hospital last week.
The protesters aimed their slogans at the Trinamool Congress administration in West Bengal, calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who oversees police and healthcare portfolios in the state.
Demanding justice for the victim and her family, the protesters sought severe punishment for the perpetrator. BJP MLA Agnimitra Pal also joined the rally.
Commencing at College Square in the city's northern sector, the protest march concluded at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the site of the horrific incident that took place on Friday. One individual was arrested the following day in connection with the crime.
