In a shocking turn of events, RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was vandalized by unidentified individuals shortly after midnight on Thursday. The incident occurred amid protests against the rape and murder of a woman doctor, whose body was discovered last week.
According to police reports, a group of nearly 40 people entered the premises, causing significant damage. They disguised themselves as protestors and pelted stones, prompting police to use teargas to disperse the crowd. Several police officers sustained injuries during the violence.
Political leaders have pointed fingers, with Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee calling for accountability, while BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari alleged involvement of TMC goons. The incident has sparked widespread demands for justice and better security measures for medical professionals.
