Google has revealed that Iranian cyber attackers, linked to the country's Revolutionary Guard, have been attempting to infiltrate personal email accounts of individuals connected to U.S. political campaigns since May.
According to Google's threat intelligence arm, the attackers are targeting associates of Joe Biden, Donald Trump, and Kamala Harris using email phishing tactics. The report emphasizes continuous efforts to disrupt U.S. elections, building on a prior Microsoft analysis.
The intrusions have included successful breaches of high-profile individuals' accounts, resulting in increased security warnings and FBI involvement. The report underscores heightened foreign cybersecurity threats as the U.S. presidential election approaches.
