They are seeking votes banking on valour of soldiers : NCP MP Bhosale about BJP

The BJP has fielded sitting MP Pritam Munde, a daughter of late BJP stalwart Gopinath Munde, from Beed against NCP's Bajrang Sonawane. "I have learnt that my name is being used to mislead voters in some constituencies, for example, Beed," Bhosale said in a statement.

NCP MP from Maharashtra Udayanraje Bhosale Wednesday said his name was being used to "mislead" voters after banners claiming his support for the BJP's Beed candidate reportedly cropped up in the Marathwada constituency. Bhosale, who is seeking another term from his home turf Satara in western Maharashtra, also pitched for his party's victory in Beed.

"Hence, I urge voters to strengthen Maharashtra's position in the country by electing candidates of the NCP, Congress and allies," the MP added. Bhosale also accused the BJP-Shiv Sena combine of not implementing programmes for the welfare of farmers, the unemployed youth, small traders, industrialists, women, Dalits and deprived sections.

"Since they have nothing to say on what they did for these sections, they are seeking votes banking on the valour of soldiers (post-Pulwama terror attack)," he said. The Beed seat goes to poll in the second phase of election on April 18.

The battle for Beed is seen as a political struggle for oneupmanship between Pritam's sister and state Rural Development Minister Pankaja Munde, and her estranged cousin Dhananjay Munde of the NCP, who is the Leader of Opposition in the state Legislative Council.
