''Today, to bring a change in the lives of poor people or even our neighbors is like doing the duty for the nation. If you can connect a poor person with a government welfare scheme or make your neighbor aware of taking advantage of such schemes, it is equally a work for the development of the nation,” Modi said. He said ''though we did not get an opportunity to die for the country in the freedom struggle, we can live for the country''. He asked the youth present at the event if they can stop doing cash transactions till August 15, 2023, and adopt the digital payment mode. ''Your small contribution can create a huge difference to small businesses and the lives of vendors,'' Modi said. Similarly, a pledge may be taken for cleanliness, shunning single-use plastic, and preventing malnutrition, he said. Modi also mentioned a campaign by a girl from Nagaland for cleaning the ghats of Kashi (Varanasi). She started alone, but later many people joined the drive, he added.
