Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday reignited speculation regarding internal divisions within the BJP with a cryptic remark asserting that the party is bigger than the government.
Maurya's statement, shared on X, emphasized that 'the organisation is bigger than the government,' leading to rumors about a possible rift with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. 'The pain of the workers is my pain. No one is bigger than the organisation, the workers are the pride,' he added during a BJP working committee meeting in Lucknow on Sunday.
The comments come just a day after Maurya met BJP president J P Nadda in New Delhi. Despite the swirling rumors, neither the BJP nor Maurya have commented on the matter. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav suggested that this internal strife is harming the welfare of Uttar Pradesh's people.
