Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday suggested that the party is more important than the government, sparking speculation of a potential internal rift within the BJP.

Maurya's comments, shared on social media, emphasized the significance of the party organization over individual governance roles. His remarks came during the BJP's working committee meeting in Lucknow and were later posted online by his office.

The cryptic post has led to rumors of tensions between Maurya and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This speculation intensified following Maurya's meeting with BJP president J P Nadda in New Delhi. Senior BJP leaders have refrained from commenting on the issue.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party criticized the BJP, alleging that internal conflicts were detracting from governance in Uttar Pradesh.
