The Odisha government has officially dissolved the state planning board, according to a release issued on Wednesday.
The decision was approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, just a month after the BJP took charge in the state.
Sources indicate that a new planning board will be constituted soon, with Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal tipped to become its chairman. Historically, it is a common practice for a new government to dissolve the existing planning board after coming into power.
