TMC Prepares Resolutions on NEET Irregularities and New Criminal Laws for West Bengal Assembly Session

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) intends to table two critical resolutions addressing alleged irregularities in the NEET medical entrance exam and the swift enforcement of new criminal laws during the forthcoming West Bengal assembly session, a party leader disclosed.

West Bengal Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay announced that the assembly session is scheduled to commence on July 22 and will continue for ten days. He noted that decisions on extending the session's tenure would be made during a business advisory committee and an all-party meeting.

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which came into effect on July 1, have introduced significant amendments to the Indian criminal justice system, replacing the British-era IPC, CrPC, and the Indian Evidence Act. The BJP is also considering a motion to discuss incidents of post-poll violence and mob assaults within the state, as per BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul.
