European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reiterated her support for Ukraine despite Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's trip to Moscow in what she called "an appeasement mission".

"This so-called peace mission was nothing but an appeasement mission," she said in an address to the European Parliament. "Russia is banking on Europe and the West going soft, and some in Europe are playing along."

She insisted the European Union will keep supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes. "We must give Ukraine everything it needs to resist and emerge victorious."
