Britain's new prime minister, Keir Starmer, issued a call for closer European cooperation to support Ukraine and tackle issues like illegal migration, climate change, and energy security, during a gathering at Blenheim Palace.
Starmer sought to reset post-Brexit ties, distancing himself from the prior administration’s threatened exit from a human rights treaty. “Britain will be a friend and a partner, ready to work with you, not part of the European Union, but very much part of Europe,” he declared.
European leaders largely welcomed Starmer’s vision, with French President Emmanuel Macron calling it a “great opportunity for a reset.”
