Senator J.D. Vance would make a remarkable Vice President for America, stated his Indian-American wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, at the Republican National Convention. Usha, a Yale law graduate and trial lawyer, introduced Vance while sharing insights about their life together, including his acceptance of her vegetarian diet and his culinary skills.
Usha, 38, has maintained a low profile until now, acknowledging their contrasting backgrounds—he, a white man from the rust belt, and she, the daughter of Indian immigrants. She emphasized that their relationship is a testament to America's inclusivity.
“That JD and I could meet at all, let alone fall in love and marry, is a testament to this great country,” Usha said. She praised her husband's resilience, recounting how he overcame childhood struggles, served as a Marine in Iraq, and graduated from Yale Law School.
