Former President Donald Trump will contend with Vice President Kamala Harris in the forthcoming U.S. presidential election slated for Nov. 5, following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race.
Harris secured the Democratic nomination after amassing sufficient delegate votes. She is expected to announce her vice-presidential nominee and hold her first rally in Philadelphia on Aug. 6.
In the lead-up to Election Day, the Democratic National Convention will occur in Chicago from Aug. 19-22. Trump and Harris have yet to finalize debate arrangements for September. Additionally, Trump faces a sentencing on Sept. 18 for his conviction in the Manhattan hush money case.
The election results may take several days to finalize, especially with mail-in ballots in play. On Jan. 6, Vice President Harris will oversee the Electoral College vote count in Congress, a process refined by recent legislative reforms. The inauguration ceremony will take place on Jan. 20, 2025, where the elected president and vice-president will be sworn in.
