Vice President Kamala Harris will introduce her new running mate during a Tuesday evening rally in Philadelphia, but the choice remains under wraps. In recent days, she has considered Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The Harris campaign plans to announce the choice via video message before the event, according to a person involved in the planning, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The announcement follows a strategy similar to how Joe Biden unveiled Harris as his vice-presidential pick during the 2020 campaign. This marks a crucial milestone in the two weeks since Harris took the lead of the Democratic ticket. The campaign is working quickly to invigorate Democratic efforts against Republican Donald Trump.

Harris, accompanied by second gentleman Doug Emhoff and her new running mate, will appear together at a rally in Philadelphia. This joint appearance recalls Biden and Harris's 2020 event in Wilmington, Delaware, and Hillary Clinton's 2016 rally with running mate Tim Kaine in Miami. Following the Philadelphia event, Harris and her running mate will tour key battleground states, although inclement weather could disrupt planned stops in Savannah, Georgia and Durham, North Carolina.
