The BJP staged a protest outside Tihar jail on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This followed a high court verdict upholding his arrest by the CBI in a corruption case linked to an excise policy scam.
Protesters carried placards and raised slogans outside Tihar jail, where Kejriwal is currently lodged. The Delhi High Court also dismissed Kejriwal's bail plea but granted him the liberty to approach the trial court for relief. In response, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized the BJP, alleging the opposition was staging a 'charade' in Delhi.
The BJP's Delhi unit chief, Virendra Sachdeva, accused Kejriwal of paralyzing governance and insisted he should step down immediately. Sachdeva claimed no minister in the AAP government is taking responsibility for any issues, attributing the mess to rampant corruption. He emphasized the need for the government to function smoothly by appointing someone else to the chief minister's chair.
