Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar Pledges Justice for Persecuted Hindus in Bangladesh

Alarmed by the recent increase in violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar expressed unwavering commitment to securing justice for the persecuted community.

In a video statement issued on Friday, Thanedar said, “We need justice for the minority Hindus. These are heartbreaking activities. This has to stop, and I'm on top of it.”

Thanedar, who established the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain American Congressional Caucus to champion the rights of religious minorities, is actively engaged with the State Department and international authorities.

A statement from Thanedar on Thursday called on Bangladesh’s leadership to put an end to the violence, which has reportedly included the destruction of temples and targeted attacks on Hindus. The violence has escalated since former prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country, resulting in 232 deaths and significant vandalism, including at the home of the folk band Joler Gaan’s frontman Rahul Ananda.
