Imran Khan Claims Ex-ISI Chief Faiz Hameed Was 'Wasted Asset'

Jailed former prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday described ex-ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed as an 'asset' who had been 'wasted.'

Hameed has been detained to undergo court-martial under army laws for allegedly misusing authority during his tenure as the Director General of the ISI.

Speaking informally to journalists in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi after a case hearing, Khan emphasized that the arrest was an internal military matter but couldn't hide his sentiment that Hameed was valuable.

The former prime minister recalled that his unwillingness to endorse Hameed’s transfer led to a confrontation with then-army chief Gen (retd.) Qamar Javed Bajwa, ultimately resulting in Khan's ouster as prime minister.

Khan alleged Bajwa acted on behalf of politicians Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif in removing Hameed and criticized what he called selective accountability within the army ranks.
