Thailand's Parliament convened on Friday to decide on a new prime minister, with Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the 37-year-old daughter of former leader Thaksin Shinawatra, expected to be nominated.
The vote comes shortly after the previous PM was removed over ethics violations. Paetongtarn, who leads the Pheu Thai party, doesn't hold an elected office but is still eligible for the prime minister's role.
If approved, she will be Thailand's second female prime minister and the youngest leader, continuing her family's influential yet controversial political legacy.
