The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) on Friday said it has imposed a penalty of Rs 1.39 crore on over a dozen real estate promoters for non-compliance with its orders.
The decision to impose the penalty was taken at the 104th meeting of the UP RERA under the chairmanship of Rajive Kumar. The meeting was held to review the status of compliance of its orders by the promoters, it said.
The UP RERA ''noted with displeasure" that "some of the promoters have indulged in non-compliance'' of its orders despite the authority granting them sufficient time for the same, according to an official release.
''The authority is making constant efforts to ensure enforcement of its orders and provide speedy justice to the aggrieved allottees. The action of penalty against the guilty promoters is an important step towards compelling them to comply with the orders of the authority,'' it said.
''Taking the above facts into account, the authority decided to impose appropriate penalty against the promoters to ensure compliance of its orders and protect the interests of the home buyers,'' it said.
The entities that face penalty are SRB Promoters (Rs 22.54 lakh), Gardenia India (Rs 30.90 lakh), AIMS Golf Town Developers (Rs 6.50 lakh), MV Infrastructures and Housing (Rs 10.40 lakh), Elegant Infracon (Rs 7.90 lakh), Redicon Infrastructures (Rs 7.95 lakh), Decent Buildwell (Rs 6.82 lakh), Uttam Steel and Associate (Consortium) (Rs 1.99 lakh), JSS Buildcon (Rs 8.43 lakh), Earthcon Construction (Rs 6.25 lakh), Opulent Infradevelopers (Rs 6.89 lakh), Aura Buildwell (Rs 11.38 lakh), Green Bay Infrastructures (Rs 11.46 lakh), it said.
The total amount of penalties imposed was Rs 1.39 crore, the UP RERA said.
The authority further directed the promoters to submit the compliance report of its orders within 15 days and deposit the amount of penalty within 30 days, otherwise the amount of penalty shall be recovered as arrears of land revenue.
