Experts proposed strengthened surveillance and improved coordination to combat avian influenza during a high-level meeting hosted by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying on Tuesday.
The session at Krishi Bhawan brought together specialists from various government and research institutions to formulate strategies against the growing threat of bird flu.
Emphasizing the urgency of the issue, attendees noted recent HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) outbreaks, particularly highlighting its spillover potential. The panel recommended a multi-faceted approach, including intensified environmental surveillance and updated protocols.
The meeting also highlighted the pivotal role of India's poultry sector in food security and economic growth, stressing the need for a robust surveillance system and considering vaccination strategies.
