Flood Situation in Assam Improves, But Over 3.5 Lakh Still Affected

The flood situation in Assam has improved, but over 3.5 lakh people across 11 districts remain affected. Dhubri, Nagaon, and Cachar are the worst-hit regions. The flood situation in Assam continued to see improvement on Wednesday, despite more than 3.5 lakh people still suffering from the deluge across 11 districts, according to an official bulletin.

An ASDMA report indicated that over 3,55,400 individuals are affected in Cachar, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Kamrup Metropolitan, Karimganj, Nagaon, Nalbari, and Sivasagar districts.

Dhubri remains the worst affected with nearly 80,000 individuals, followed by Nagaon with 77,500 and Cachar with almost 72,000 people affected.

As of Tuesday, the flood had impacted more than 4.04 lakh people across 12 districts.

This year's toll from floods, landslides, storms, and lightning stands at 113. The administration has set up 85 relief camps and distribution centers in eight districts, attending to 24,336 displaced individuals.

823 villages are submerged, damaging 16,673.86 hectares of crops. Floodwaters have also damaged embankments, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure in areas like Bajali, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Barpeta, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Karimganj, and Morigaon.

Additionally, over 1.63 lakh domestic animals and poultry have been affected by the floods.
