In alignment with the Uttar Pradesh government's initiative to plant 36.45 crore trees in a single day, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration aims to plant 10.81 lakh saplings, officials announced on Wednesday.
District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma chaired a webinar on Tuesday with the district tree plantation committee to strategize for the programme's success.
Verma emphasized the need for involvement from local dignitaries, students, schools, colleges, industrial units, civil society, RWAs, NGOs, and rural residents for widespread participation.
To achieve the plantation goals by July 20, preparations are underway to identify land for plantation and ensure sapling availability. Officials have been urged to promote the tree plantation drive extensively.
Divisional Forest Officer Pramod Kumar Srivastava highlighted the 'One Tree for Mother' and 'Plant Trees, Save Trees' schemes aimed at increasing green cover. The administration also focused on tree maintenance to ensure their survival, following directives from the National Air Quality Management Commission.
Participation in the meeting included key district officials, village heads, environmentalists, and NGOs.
