Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday unveiled the 'Shramik Basera' scheme, aimed at offering temporary accommodation to around 15,000 construction workers for a nominal rate of Rs 5 per day.
The ground-breaking ceremony for 17 housing structures in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Rajkot cities was conducted, with Patel laying the foundation stone at a site in Ahmedabad's Jagatpur area and virtually launching other facilities.
Patel stated that this move will improve the living standards of the unorganised sector's workers by providing essential services like food, health, housing, and financial support. The project, costing Rs 1,500 crore, plans to benefit about 3 lakh workers over the next three years.
