Heavy rains and floods wreaked havoc across north and northwest India on Sunday, leading to at least 28 deaths, landslides, and significant infrastructure damage.
The state of Rajasthan was particularly hard-hit, reporting 16 deaths over two days. The monsoon chaos caused the suspension of the annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.
In Punjab's Hoshiarpur, nine people lost their lives after their vehicle was swept away by a seasonal rivulet in spate. Haryana's Yamunanagar district saw several villages inundated following a dam breach. Authorities have deployed disaster response forces to the affected areas.
