Migratory birds have commenced their return journey from Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha's Kendrapara district, following a four-month winter stay, according to forest officials.
More than 152,000 feathered visitors from 106 species had sought refuge in Bhitarkanika this year to escape harsh winters in northern Asia and parts of central Europe.
Enhanced habitat conditions and vigilant protection against poachers created a serene environment for these avians, who start arriving each November, with more expected next season.
