Veteran archer Deepika Kumari faced another heartbreaking setback at the Paris Olympics, falling 4-6 to Korea's Suhyeon Nam in the women's individual event quarterfinals. This defeat marked the end of India's campaign at the prestigious event.
Deepika, who had earlier clinched victory against Germany's Michelle Kroppen with a score of 6-4, could not replicate her past success against Nam. The Indian stalwart had previously defeated Nam in straight sets during the Shanghai World Cup semifinals in April, but failed to do so on Saturday.
With the score tied at 4-4 after four sets, Nam clinched the final set to secure her spot in the semifinals. Deepika's inconsistency, especially scores of six and seven in the second and fourth sets, hindered her performance. Despite a strong showing in the first and third sets, she ultimately fell short in the decider, scoring three nines against Nam's higher scores.
