Dewi Weber Takes Lead in Portland Classic Despite Olympic Snub

Dewi Weber, snubbed by the Dutch Olympic committee for the Paris Games, made a bold statement at the Portland Classic by shooting a remarkable 10-under 62 to lead the second round. Despite qualifying under International Golf Federation standards, Weber was excluded due to the country's stringent top-eight finish criteria.

'We're two rounds in, so we'll see how this all unfolds and if I can really make a statement,' Weber said. Playing her second LPGA Tour event of the year, she showcased her skills with nine birdies in an 11-hole stretch.

She finished the round with a birdie on the par-4 18th, taking a two-shot lead over Polly Mack and Andrea Lee. With the Olympics next week and no top-30 world-ranked players present, Weber's performance is under keen observation.
