The first day of the Covelong Classic 2024 saw Tamil Nadu surfers taking the lead in the national surfing championship's final leg. The event, organized by the Tamil Nadu Surfing Association and hosted by Surf Turf, kicked off on Thursday with impressive performances.
Local prodigy Kishore Kumar, competing in the Groms (16 and Under) Boys category, delivered a stellar performance, achieving the highest score of the day at 13.66. In the men’s open category, Nithish Varun T emerged as a top performer, leading the heats to secure a spot in the next round.
Supported by the Tamil Nadu Government and the Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, the three-day championship attracted 32 competitors from various states. The strong showing from Tamil Nadu included notable scores from Naveenkumar R, Kalapathy S, Ajith K, and Santosh M. The event continues with surfers eyeing the semi-finals and final rounds.
