Olympic pole vault champion Armand Duplantis and 400m hurdles world record holder Karsten Warholm are set to compete in a special 100-metre sprint this September. The race, anticipated by fans, will take place in Zurich on Sept. 4, acting as a prelude to the city's Diamond League meeting.
Both athletes, known for their successful careers and friendly rivalry, had long planned the sprint challenge, awaiting the right moment and a safe schedule to avoid injuries. The competition will be held at the iconic Letzigrund Stadium, a renowned venue in the track and field world.
Duplantis, actively preparing for the event, sought advice and support from his Louisiana State University friends and coach Dennis Shaver on social media. Warholm's top sprint time stands at 10.49 seconds, while Duplantis recorded a 10.57 with a +2.1 wind during his high school years.
