Nasscom Voices Strong Opposition to Karnataka's Quota Bill for Locals in Private Sector

The apex IT body, Nasscom, has expressed deep disappointment and concern over Karnataka's recent legislation mandating reservation for locals in the private sector. They have called for the state government to retract the bill.

The bill proposes to reserve 50 per cent of management positions and 75 per cent of non-management positions for locals, sparking criticism from various industry veterans. Nasscom argues that the restrictions could force companies to relocate due to a shortage of local skilled talent, despite the state contributing significantly to the national digital talent pool and GDP.
