A 15-year-old teenager is under investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office for allegedly hacking into France's national ID agency and attempting to sell millions of citizens' data on the dark web. The suspect, known online as 'breach3d', was detained following the breach.
The incident, detected by the National Agency for Secured Titles (ANTS) on April 13, compromised data such as ID cards, passports, and driver's licenses. ANTS confirmed the authenticity of the data offered for sale and alerted citizens via email about the security breach.
This case raises significant concerns about the security of centralized data storage systems in France, especially as fraudulent data access and theft carry severe penalties. As authorities continue to investigate, French citizens are highly encouraged to remain vigilant against potential scams.
