Argentina just scrapes through the Round of 16 with Lionel Messi finally scoring for Argentina against Nigeria and a late goal from Rojo saw them qualify for the Round of 16. Croatia massacred Iceland and the permutation combination helped Argentina qualify with Croatia from Group D.

Now, talking about the Germany jinx. Die Mannschaft have always ruined the party for Argentina.

Going back to 2006, Argentina lost to Germany in the quarter-finals after 1-1 draw decided through penalties.

In 2010, Argentina again was knocked out by Germany in the quarterfinals, it was a humiliating defeat for Argentina. Lionel Messi and company lost the match 0-4. The match is remembered for Thomas Mueller and Miroslav goals.

In 2014, Argentina lost to Germany 0-1 with Martin Gortze scoring at the  113th minute and the devastating missed free kick by Messi is still a fresh wound for Argentina.

With Germany out of the World Cup. Lionel Messi and company have a bright chance to win the World Cup as Germany has missed the bus. Argentina will play the Round of 16 against France and a victory could see Messi battling with Ronaldo’s Portugal.'
