In today’s data-driven world, privacy concerns are escalating as personal information fuels innovation and services. The IMF proposes a dual strategy—robust regulation paired with privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs)—to build trust in the digital economy. Techniques like homomorphic encryption, federated learning, and differential privacy offer safer data use without compromising utility. Yet, these tools must be used responsibly and alongside strong cybersecurity frameworks. Global collaboration is key to ensuring privacy becomes a foundation for inclusive digital progress.
