Since Wentworth Season 8 was announced, fans started waiting to know more on it in details. They want to know what more they can see in the upcoming season including the exact release date. Read the texts below to know more in details.

Before getting more in details for Wentworth Season 8, let us notify you that Wentworth Season 9 will mark end to the Australian television drama programme. Earlier, the series creators declared that the show would continue until 2021. The imminent season was said to be consisting of 20 episodes and with all these, the Australian television drama programme will complete a total of 100 episodes.

When will Wentworth Season 8 commence filming? There is a report that shooting for the imminent season already started during the last week of October 2019. The production on the prison drama's eighth season has been commenced in Melbourne last Friday.

A rumor earlier broke out on July 6, 2018 that Foxtel had made the decision not to renew for Wentworth Season 8 after Season 7. Immediately a petition was launched on Change.org by the name "Save Wentworth". The supports from fans not only from Australia but several parts of the world were proved highly effective and Foxtel was left with no option than announcing the making of Season 8 in December 2017.

Many fans may not know Wentworth Season 8 will be consisting of 20 episodes, much higher than the previous seasons. While Season 1 and 7 consisted of 10 episodes, Season 2 to 6 consisted of 12 episodes. This is the first time any episode is going to have more number of episodes. The reason behind giving order for 20 episodes is to complete 100 episodes with the finale of Season 8.

Wentworth Season 9, as told above, is already confirmed. Thus, the series will remain on air until 2021. As far as the release date of Wentworth Season 8 is concerned, we can assume it to have its premiere in spring this year, based on the airing dates of the previous seasons. Once Season 8 drops its finale, it will be picked up by Netflix immediately.

According to Media Week, new characters are joining the impressive ensemble of actors in Wentworth Season 8 include Back of the Net actress Kate Box, Janet King actress Zoe Terakes, The Secret Life Of Us actress Jane Hall to name a few. Ann Reynolds who charms her colleagues but treats her prisoners with hard line prejudice. Fans are highly concerned on the returning of The Freak in Wentworth Season 8. Fucking Adelaide actress Pamela Rabe was seen playing the role of Joan Ferguson aka The Freak between Season 2 and 5 and as a special guest in Season 6 and 7.

Kate Box is another addition. Kate will be playing the role of a former top dog in the prison. The third addition in the series, Jane Hall will be seen as the General Manager Ann Reynolds. Ann is said to be quite a strict character with the disciples of the prisoners.
