40 pct chance of cyclone near Leeward Islands in next 48 hours: NHC

This system has not become better organized over the past 24 hours, and environmental conditions may not become as conducive as previously anticipated, the NHC said.

A tropical wave producing an area of disturbed weather that extends from near the Leeward Islands northeastward over the tropical Atlantic for several hundred miles has a 40 per cent chance of developing into a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Monday.

This system has not become better organized over the past 24 hours, and environmental conditions may not become as conducive as previously anticipated, the NHC said.
