Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) on Monday announced the appointments of Torrent Group Chairman Samir Mehta as its president and Cipla Executive Vice Chairperson Samina Hamied as vice president for 2021-2023.

''IPA will be collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the accessibility of medicines and help in creating an innovation ecosystem that will be beneficial to the patients,'' Mehta said.

COVID-19 has been a challenging time for the Indian pharmaceutical industry. However, the industry has risen to the challenges and ensured a continuous supply of medicines to patients, he added.

Hamied said, ''I am looking forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders of the industry to ensure sustainable, resilient and agile operations and create a positive difference in the lives of patients''.
